Suspected opium poisoning in two young dogs

ABSTRACTTwo young dogs which played in a domestic garden in which the opium poppy (Papaver somniferum) grew as wild flowers, developed euphoric as well as other nervous signs, reminiscent of opium poisoning. No medicinal treatment was given. The one dog recovered in one day while the other one took one to two weeks to recover.Pain
